Story Behind This Painting:
Following a watercolour tutorial session with Meeta Dani, a realistic watercolour painter, I was able to take on the challenge of painting a photo of this stone statue set in a temple in India. This elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings is considered by many to help with removing obstacles. I liked the meaning behind Ganesh, and considered the challenge to use watercolour to convey the time-worn feeling about this wall as well as the many patrons that may have brought their anticipation to this statue.
